Nigeria’s Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has felicitated Muslim faithful on the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr, while ordering nationwide deployment of tactical assets to ensure a secure festive period.
In a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, the IGP directed Commissioners of Police and Tactical Commanders across all states and the Federal Capital Territory to implement comprehensive security arrangements.
Operational measures include the strategic deployment of tactical teams and intelligence operatives, as well as the Special Intervention Squad and conventional police personnel to Eid prayer grounds and critical infrastructure.
The police will also maintain increased presence along highways, motor parks, recreational centres, and other public spaces to guarantee peaceful and hitch-free celebrations.

The IGP further ordered heightened visibility policing, coordinated patrols, enhanced surveillance, and intelligence-led stop-and-search operations aimed at deterring criminal activities and ensuring swift response to emerging threats.
He urged members of the public to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies, and report suspicious activities through designated emergency lines.
The Inspector-General also wished Muslim faithful a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
