Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri has said Nigeria’s problem is not ethnic diversities but the lack of love for one another.
Speaking as he hosted leaders of Islamic Affairs Bayelsa State Council to a banquet to mark this year’s Eid-el Kabir, the Governor called on citizens to live and work harmoniously to build a united and progressive country.
The Bayelsa State government under the current administration usually hosts the Muslim community in the State to a special banquet to mark every celebration in the Muslim calendar.
Aside from the merriment, such events usually offer opportunities for Islamic leaders in the State to chat with the Governor on issues relating to their welfare and peaceful coexistence.
On the occasion of this year’s Eid-el Kabir, the Governor was represented by his Deputy, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo who admonished Muslims and Christians to show a true reflection of what Jesus Christ and Prophet Muhammad preached.
The leadership of the State Council of Islamic Affairs appreciated the Governor for carrying them along in the scheme of things, describing the show of love as an unforgettable experience.
