Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma has called for continuous unity, peace and tolerance among Muslims and Christians in the country.
The Governor while addressing the Muslim community during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration at the Government House Bouquet Hall, Owerri emphasised that the country cannot grow as a prosperous nation in an atmosphere of rancour, bloodletting and other forms of criminality.
Uzodimma congratulated the Muslim faithful, and appealed to them to desist from crime and criminality and other vices for the advancement and development of Imo State and the country.
In appreciation, leader of the delegation, Bashiri Uwakwe expressed gratitude to the Governor for his magnanimity and numerous assistances to the Muslim Community in the State without counting costs and discrimination in religion.
And Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State in South-South Nigeria hosted the Hausa community in Calabar to celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir at his residence in Calabar.
Governor Otu in an inclusive approach and commitment to fostering unity among diverse communities, took the opportunity to emphasise the importance of peace and unity in Cross River State.
While addressing the Muslim Ummah, Governor Otu urged all residents to embrace the spirit of the Eid-el-kabir celebration, by fostering mutual respect and understanding across ethnic and religious divides.
The Chief Imam of Calabar Central Mosque, Kabeer Olowolayemo, highlighted the significance of Eid-el-Kabir, emphasising that the festival served as a reminder of the values of selflessness and devotion.
The celebration is not only a significant religious occasion but also reinforces the bonds that hold the diverse population together.
