Passenger train service on the Abuja-Kaduna railway will resume operations on Monday December 5.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Nigerian railway corporation, NRC, following the directive of the Federal Ministry of Transportation.
On resumption, it is expected to run two return services on a daily basis between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Intending passengers are advised to ensure compliance with the new operational guidelines which includes a mandatory presentation of the National Identification Mumber NIN, by every adult. The NRC added that online and mobile app ticket purchases will be available by 8 p.m. on Sunday December 4 , while ticket offices at the train stations will open by 6:30 a.m. on Monday December 5.
The resumption of passenger train service on the Abuja-Kaduna rail line is coming after eight months of suspension due to the March 28 attack on a Kaduna bound train which led to the killing of eight passengers and abduction of many, who were subsequently released in batches.
In view of the planned resumption, the Federal Government has assured passengers of their safety and those of their property, insisting it has deployed additional security measures on the corridor.
