Speculations making the rounds that former Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu is about to pitch tent with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and dump his opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) heighten on Monday after the lawmaker paid an unscheduled visit to the Abuja headquarters of APC.

With Ekweremadu was the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinmma.

Ekweremadu currently represents Enugu West in the Senate and has been in the National Assembly on the platform of PDP since 2003.

The lawmaker had last week withdrawn from PDP Governorship primaries in Enugu over alleged breach of the Constitution and party guidelines.

His appearance at APC National Secretariat is bound to spark even more rumours of his alleged intention to leave PDP for the Governorship ticket of APC in Enugu State.

Speaking with Journalists, Ekweremadu said he simply came to the APC National Secretariat to “see his friend”, referring to APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu.

Ekweremadu’s romance with Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma has further fueled speculations about the imminent plans of the 3-time Deputy President of the Senate to ditch PDP and settle for APC.

Gov. Uzodinma has been behind the defection of many powerful politicians in the Southeast to the APC in recent times.
