El-kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri have emerged champions of the Maiden President Federation Cup.
They defeated Abia Warriors of Umuahia 2-0 in the final of the competition decided at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, formerly Onikan stadium in Lagos.
Nasiru Salihu who missed a penalty earlier in the first half recovered to score the two goals that ensured victory for El-kanemi.
It marks the fourth title for the Maiduguri side in the nation’s foremost cup competition which had been known as the FA Cup, AITEO Cup before the current transformation to the President Federation Cup.
With the victory El-kanemi Warriors have also earned the rights to represent Nigeria as the country’s second representatives in the next CAF Confederation cup competition.
