The Kukah centre says the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, has greater roles to play in dousing the current tension in the country which is the fallout of the 2023 general election resulting.
A short-term expert at the Kukak centre, Gloria Ballason who said this at the opening of a two-day capacity training for stakeholders from North Central and South West States held in Lokoja the Kogi, said for Nigerians to believe in the nation’s electoral system, INEC must take responsibility of being accountable for the process.
In a bid to stem conflict usually associated with elections in the country, about fifty participants from five States are in Lokoja the Kogi State Capital for a two-day training on practical conflict resolution techniques and Strategies.

The Participants drawn from Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Benue and Oyo States are to be trained on using effective tools for conflict management.
The Project Officer of the Centre, Lawson Eselebor said lack of right application of conflict is the cause of violence, destruction and killings in the society.
According to him, Conflict is inevitable in the family and society at large, hence the training to keep the stakeholders equipped on managing crises, especially in post-election violence.
An Expert with The Kukah Peace Project, Gloria Balason noted that to ensure sustainable peace, priority must be given to issues of accountability, truth and justice.
