The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP says the threats of anarchy from President Bola Tinubu’s lawyers to the Presidential Election Petitions Court are a pre-emptive move to intimidate the judiciary

In a statement signed by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the party says it is alarmed the APC externalised to the public, its written address in which it allegedly threatened national peace if the court upholds what it says is the clear provisions of section 134 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) with respect to the statutory requirements for which a candidate in a presidential election can be declared winner.

The PDP also holds that the clear intent of the APC is to set the stage to allegedly orchestrate violence across the country.

The party further clarifies that contrary to the claims of the APC and its lawyers, upholding the provisions of the Constitution will lead to the promotion of peace and stability in the polity while deepening Nigeria’s democracy.

The party wants Nigerians to remain calm and hopeful in the ability of the judiciary to dispense justice.
