The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner for Akwa Ibom State, Mike Igini has maintained his position on section 115 of the electoral act 2022, that no person is permitted to contest primaries in two different constituencies in the same election year.
Igini revealed this to newsmen in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital in response to the controversy generated by the section of the electoral act.
The issue of section 115 of the electoral act 2022 and the different interpretations trailing it has continued to dominate public discourse.
According to the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Akwa Ibom state, Mike Igini the judgment of an Ebonyi Federal High Court remains the law of the land.
For those who are uncomfortable with his appearances on radio and television programs, Igini said he is backed by the electoral act.
He gave reasons why INEC has to end the extended continuous voters registration exercise despite the large number of people unable to register.
