An Akwa Ibom State High Court sitting in Uyo, the state capital has adjourned to February 24, 2022 the trial of a University of Uyo lecturer Professor Ignatius Uduk for electoral offences
At the resumed hearing of the case and after cross examination of all witnesses, the trial judge gave the adjournment for adoption of written addresses by both counsels.
At the resumed hearing the prosecution counsel called four witnesses who are all INEC staff.
Two of the witnesses , who were Supervisory Presiding Officers at the election testified to the violence that marred the election, including the abduction of INEC officials to force them and write election results in favour of a particular candidate.

The trial judge, Justice Bassey Nkanang thereafter adjourned to February 24, 2022 for the adoption of written addresses by both counsels and the filing of a No Case Submission as indicated by the defense counsel.
Professor Ignatius Uduk was the Returning Officer for the Akwa Ibom Governorship / Essien Udim State Constituency election in 2019 .
He is being arraigned by INEC on a two count charge bordering on obtaining fake results from politicians and announcing same which the commission says was contrary to the provisions of the electoral act 2010 as amended .
