Residents of the Southern senatorial districts of Ondo State have called on the Federal Government to prevail on the management of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, to complete the abandoned power plant project that has kept them in total darkness for the last fourteen years.
Five Local Government areas in the southern part of Ondo state have been in total darkness, without electricity.
On several occasions, different interest groups and residents of the region had embarked on Protests to press home their demand.
Part of the major factor hindering the restoration of electricity to the communities is the abandoned power transmission station project at Erinje Community in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, which was awarded 8 years ago by the Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

The people of the affected areas hinged the abandonment of the power plant to instability of policies in the country and the internal wrangling within the NDDC.
The residents, want all issues resolved and contractors who just returned to site to complete the project Which will bring an end to years of hardship.
