The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Abdullahi Adamu, has described the emergence of former Borno Governor, Kashim Shettima as the Vice Presidential candidate as a divine ordination from God.

Adamu said this shortly after leading some of the APC National Working Committee to pay Sallah homage to President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, Katsina State, North-West Nigeria.

Adamu who was reacting to the recent development in the party, where some stakeholders are renouncing their party membership or positions, as a result of the Muslim-Muslim ticket, said God has a reason for bringing the two major personalities together.

He added that the party has high regard for the Christian faith, but what the APC needs at this time, is to win the forthcoming general elections convincingly.

According to Adamu, “We have nothing to fear. Absolutely, Shettima is a qualified Nigerian like me and you, and you don’t all have to be a Muslim or Christian to lead the country”.

He added that “The fact of the matter is that, we appreciate that the Christians are interested in the position of the Vice President, and there is no doubt about it, and we are practical as possible about it, and we do hope that people will see reasons”.

The APC National Chairman added that nobody is going to promote Muslim-Muslim or Christian-Christian tickets, but we have to face the reality of the politics in the country.

Adamu further said “But this time around, God has chosen him to be the one to lead the country, as our prayer is to win the forthcoming election.

For this Saturday’s election in Osun State, Adamu said the APC will win convincingly, with full confidence and assurance, boasting that, “write it, take it home, sleep over it today, on Saturday come back and say, Abdullahi Adamu, you are the son of your father”.
