Activities in Public schools across the federal capital territory was on Monday grounded as teachers continued their five days warning strike over non payment of outstanding arrears and promotion benefits to teachers in the FCT.
Our correspondent who monitored the situation at some of the public schools reports that students were asked to return home while others who couldn’t go back immediately were seen playing within the school premises.

Chairman of the Nigerian Union Of Teachers, Stephen Knabayi explained that the strike will continue pending when the union makes an official statement on Wednesday.
The NUT chairman expressed concern over the failure of the six area council chairmen to hold a meeting to begin the process of addressing all the issues raised.
The chairman notes with disappointment the lack of commitment by the government to pay outstanding arrears which he explained was long overdue.
The Minister of the Federal capital territory, Muhammad Bello had on Thursday held a meeting with the NUT to address their concerns and ensure they return to classes as soon as possible.
