As the nationwide protest enters day three, Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri has met with the Leadership of the “End Bad Governance Protest” Bayelsa state chapter in the bid to dialogue and chart a way forward for the good of all.
At the meeting this Saturday in government house, Yenagoa, the Youths among other issues want the government to address the problem of rising cost of food, issue of police harrassment, and to also create enabling ground for more involvement of youths in the agricultural sector.
As the ongoing protest against hunger continues across the country, some Youths who identified themselves as the Leaders of the “End Bad Governance Protest” Bayelsa chapter were at Creek Haven in a meeting with Governor Douye Diri.
The Leaders of the Protest highlighted some of the major reasons why they decided to join the nationwide demonstration, but noted that the reason for their visit was to answer the call of the Governor for dialogue.
The governor first apologized to the youths for wrong profiling by security agents
Governor Diri reaffirmed that his administration from inception had placed priority in engaging the youths meaningfully. He promised to look into their demands and proffer solutions.
It is the day three of the protest but the city of Yenagoa has remained calm and has shown zero compliance to the demonstration from the day two.
