BAUCHI

Thousands of ‘End Bad Governance’ protesters in Bauchi stormed the streets chanting anti-government slogans including, “Let’s End Bad Governance in Nigeria”, with most of the youths carrying placards.

While speaking to ait.live, some leaders of the protesting Youth organisations blamed Government for not doing the needful which let the economic situation become unbearable to Nigerians.

At About 10 o’clock in the morning, the situation in Bauchi city was still calm, with only few protesters seen in some areas within the metropolitan city.

However, things changed rapidly as thousands of protesters marched to the Palace of Emir of Bauchi to register their grievances on the bad governance in the country, but suddenly the security operatives began shooting teargas to disperse the protesters who were still peaceful at the time.

The protesters later reconverged and took another route and headed to Government House, but Police blocked them at the Central Bank round about, a situation that turned to a battle ground between the massive crowd of protesters, mainly youths and the Security agencies.

After a while, some the concerned youth leaders, addressed a Press conference to announce that they have pulled out of the protest, alleging that hoodlums had hijacked the civil action, which they accused the State Government and some Federal Ministers of masterminding the infiltration in order to give the organisers bad name.

The violent protest continued till late in the afternoon.
