Some Gender activists in Kogi State say there is need to develop a cost-effective multi-sectoral action plan to effectively combat Gender-Based Violence across the country.

The activists said this during a meeting organized by the Centre for Integrated Health Programmes in collaboration with the Kogi State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development to mark the “orange the world” 16 days of activism against GBV campaign in the State.

The Kogi State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Fatima Kabir Buba, said that despite not being fully reflected in the national data, Kogi State has witnessed an increase in GBV incidents across the state.

The Executive Director of Challenged Parenthood Initiative, Eunice Agbogun, noted that the multi-sectoral action plan was a “multi-year road map designed to help the state achieve its goal of eliminating violence against persons.

Chairperson of Kogi NGOs Network,
Idris Muraina, called on the Bello administration to include the Kogi State multi-sectoral costed action plan in the 2024 budget for the effective implementation of the Violence Against Person Prohibition law in the state.
