Akinmoyede sues for peace and understanding among residents. The commissioner made the appeal while briefing journalists at the Command Headquarters, Owerri, on the recent developments in the state.
He describes the unfortunate incidents as unwarranted and uncalled for, Police stations, public buildings, and wares were destroyed in the course of the protests.

The state, like other states had witnessed peaceful Endsars protest, until hoodlums hijacked the process, destroying infrastructure and killing security operatives.
Akinmoyede urged residents to rally round the police, to avert further breakdown of law and order.
He explained that the imposition of curfew by the state government was to douse the unrest.
The Imo Police boss however reassures that the command in its constitutional roles of protecting lives and properties, would not relent, but rather enforce its strategy towards the safety of residents.
