Lagos

It’s day 10 of the End SARS protest by youths in Lagos who converged on Admiralty circle toll gate along the Ibeju/Lekki Expressway to vent their anger over police brutality and the need for good governance from the authorities.

The protesters thronged the areas early on Sunday and held a special prayer session for the nation amidst calls for the federal government to do the needful in the interest of the masses, mostly youths.

Some of the protesters who kept vigil at the Lekki toll gate overnight were still in deep sleep at dawn on Sunday.

After waking up they continued with another round of dancing with music coming at full blast from the speakers.

The event no doubt included youths with other heinous intentions, thieves and pickpockets. They ran out of luck as they were allegedly caught in the act of robbing their unsuspecting victims.

The five apprehended suspects were later set free as the police were said to have bluntly refused to arrest them when they were brought to the station for prosecution in court. This action further infuriated the angry youths as they expressed dismay over the refusal of the police to carry out its constitutional responsibilities of maintaining law and order.
