Yola

The incidents of looting of government and private property in Yola, capital of Adamawa State has continued despite the dusk to dawn curfew imposed by the State.

Thousands of youths engaged in the act; carting away anything they could lay their hands on Monday.

From the National Emergency Management Agency warehouse in Adamawa State to the State Relief Store at Kwanarwaya, Waya, and Bakin Kogi, as well as the Nigerian Customs Service Adamawa/Taraba Command Headquarters, the youth ransacked every available warehouse in the State searching for Covid-19 palliatives.

The Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency Store was also not spared, as well as the National Youth Service Corps Orientation Camp, among others.

The Chairman of the Rice Farmers Association, Steven Maduwa said the farm inputs looted will be a major setback for food sufficiency initiatives in the state.

The Comptroller of Adamawa/Taraba States Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Olumoh Kamarudeen who was at the command headquarters to inspect the level of damage confirmed that one person died in the stampede with several others sustaining injuries.

Security men stationed at the affected facillites watched as the youths carried out their acts as some residents called on the government to restrategize, in order to put an end to the unfortunate development.
