Commodity associations comprising, the Rice Farmers Association, Northeast Commodity of Nigeria, Maize And Sorghum Associations among others, are among the worst hit sector in the recent looting mayhem that rocked some northeastern states of the country.

The leadership of these associations are calling for rapid intervention, in order to avert food insecurity threats.

Commodity Association such as the Northeast Commodity Association has a sole goal of transforming the agricultural sector, by engaging small, medium and large scale farmers in adopting mechanised farming methods.

With the recent looting across the state, these operations might experience a set back.

The Chairman of the Northeast Commodity Association, Sadiq Daware, during a solidarity visit to the state governor, commended him for introducing the whistle blower initiative, which has greatly helped, as most of the tractors stolen, have been recovered.

With the set back created by the looting incidents, stakeholders in the agric sector in the northeast states and the country in general must put more efforts to avert food insecurity.
