English Premier League: Ronaldo returns to Old Trafford with a bang

Cristiano Ronaldo marked his return to Old Trafford with a brace as Manchester United defeated Newcastle united 4-1 at the theater of dreams, in matchday 4 fixture of the 2021/22 English premier league season.

The Portuguese forward inspired the red devils to victory scoring the opener just before halftime.

Despite dominating possession Manchester United conceded after 11 minutes into the second half as Javier Manquilo restored parity for the visitors.

Ronaldo showed composure and class to give Ole Gunnar Solksajer’s side the lead two minutes after the hour mark.

The contest became one-way traffic thereafter, as Luiz Fernandez made it 3-1 for Manchester United with a sublime finish before Jesse Lingard who is also making a return to Old Trafford after a season-long loan spell at West Ham iced the cake for the Red Devils with the 4th goal.

So It ended 4-1 at the theater of dreams.

Elsewhere at the Emirate Stadium, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang scored the solitary goal as Arsenal defeated Norwich City by a lone goal to record their first goal and first win of the current campaign.

Manchester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Brighton recorded away win while Southampton and West Ham shared the spoils as it ended barren at Saint Mary’s.
