Enoch Adegoke is fastest man in the World

Nigeria’s Enoch Adegoke is officially the fastest man in the world so far this year following the official listing by World Athletics of the 21 year old’s incredible 10.16 seconds run at the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN, All-Comers competition held at the Sports Ground of the Federal University of Technology, Akure last Saturday

Adegoke is also the first sprinter in the world to break the 10.20 seconds record in the first month of the year

The 2019 African Under 20 champion leads five other Nigerians in the World 100 metres top 10 list.

Brume Okeoghene who came in second behind Adegoke in Akure is the third fastest man in the world so far this year with his 10.27 seconds personal best performance, while the quartet of Alaba Akintola (10.40) Ifeanyi Ojeli (10.40 personal best), Adekalu Nicholas Fakorede (10.42 personal best) and Agalivie Efe-Sam (10.44 personal best) are placed from sixth to ninth on the top list of performances for the year by World Athletics.

In the 200 metres, five Nigerians are also in the top 10 with Ifeanyi ranked as the second fastest man in the world over the distance following his 20.77 seconds run in Akure.

Rohan Browning of Australia (20.77) who was supplanted as the fastest man by Adegoke, tops the list in the half lap with the quartet of Jerry Jakpa one of the two Nigerians to break 21 seconds in Akure with 20.94 seconds, John CLIFORD (21.17), Adekalu Nicholas Fakorede (21.18) and Alaba Akintola (21.20) ranked fourth, sixth, seventh and eighth fastest so far this year.

In the 400m,Sikiru Adewale Adeyemi tops the world list with his 46.19 seconds performance while compatriot, Samson Oghenewegba Nathaniel is ranked third with 47.08 seconds
