One thousand and eleven youths have graduated from an entrepreneur skill programme and went home with Starter Packs from the National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission in Kebbi.

The programme, under a Youth Transformation platform is to engage in profitable business ventures, for economic prosperity and self-reliance.

The beneficiaries received skills acquisition training in various trades and professional entrepreneurship from the commission, in collaboration with the National Directorate for Employment.

The Managing Director of N-HYPPADECK, Abubakar Yalwa, said this during the distribution of the kits in Birnin Kebbi.

The commission, trained 1,011 youths, 343 in the technology crucial for the digital economy, 162 in computer appreciation and 181 in website design.

The Managing Director said “digital skill acquisition is vital as we position the youths to compete in the global digital marketplace”

He added that the challenges Nigeria is facing, including inflation and unemployment, make youth empowerment not just a policy choice but also an economic imperative.

The Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, represented by the Head of Service, Malami Shekare, announced that the administration would roll out more economic empowerment programmes to uplift the living standard of the citizens, especially the youths.

In a Goodwill Message, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, represented by Aliyu Mashegu, recalled that N-HYPPADECK had previously implemented such scheme in Plateau, Kogi, Kwara and now Kebbi with resounding results of economic prosperity.

“The Federal Government will continue to address youth empowerment and development through agencies, to checkmate youth restiveness, for a safer society.
