The Enugu State Government has assured the family of slain traditional Ogene musician, Okezie Mba, known by his stage name Igbo-Jah, that justice will be served for the tragic loss of their son..

Secretary to the Enugu State Government, Professor Chidiebere Onyia, gave this assurance during a condolence visit early Sunday, where he led a delegation of State government officials to the family of the deceased.

A tense atmosphere surrounded the family home of Okezie Chikezie Mba in Obiagu, Ogui-Nike, Enugu city, as State government officials arrived to console the grieving family on Sunday morning.

The musician, popularly known as Igbo-Jah, was reportedly killed last Friday night while on what the Enugu Police Command called “a friendly visit” to the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad headquarters, allegedly by a male Inspector, identified as Joseph Ozonwanji.

Police authorities say they have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.

The killing has sparked protests by outraged youth on Saturday, who took to the streets, burning tyres along the Presidential Hotel area and demanding justice.

During the condolence visit, Professor Onyia reassured the family, stating that the Enugu State Government is taking up the matter with serious concern.

This incident has reawakened calls for civility and professionalism among security operatives, bringing back sad memories of the #EndSARS protest movement and the ongoing call for Police reforms in Nigeria.
