The Enugu State Government has restated its claim to ownership of Plot 804 in the Wuye District of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, rejecting ownership claims by Simonis Ventures Nigeria Limited.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, the Enugu State Housing Development Corporation said the land was applied for by the state in 1992 and allocated in 1993, but was mistakenly issued in the name of a non-existent government entity, leading to the dispute
According to the the Enugu State Housing Development Corporation, investigations by the Police and the EFCC led to the revocation of the disputed allocation and the re-allocation of the land to Enugu State by FCT authorities; with statutory titles issued between 2023 and 2024.
It alleged that documents used to transfer the land to Simonis Ventures in 2002 were forged and without the necessary statutory approvals.
The government also dismissed claims of a court order in favour of Simonis Ventures, saying no such order was ever served on the state or its agencies.
It warned members of the public against buying or developing the land without official clearance, insisting that Plot 804 lawfully belongs to the Enugu State Government.
The FCT administration is yet to react to the latest claims by the Enugu state government
