Enugu State Government has announced its intention to construct a 380-room five-star hotel in the State capital, with completion expected within 12 months.
The decision was taken during a State Executive Council meeting on Monday, chaired by Governor Peter Mbah.
The hotel project, awarded to a Chinese firm, will be located on the premises of the International Conference Center, where construction is already underway.
The State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Ugochi Madueke, who briefed Journalists on this development, highlighted the economic benefits of the project, emphasizing its potential to boost the State’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
The Council also approved the divestment of 40% ownership of the State in the United Palm Produce Limited (UPPL).
