Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has assured Nigerians that the State will deliver nothing short of a world-class sporting experience when it hosts the 23rd National Sports Festival in 2026.
Governor Mbah gave this assurance on Tuesday at the Enugu State Government House, when he received the award letter for the hosting rights from Director-General of the Nigeria Sports Commission, Bukola Olopade.
It will be the first time the south-eastern state will host the National Sports Festival since its inception in 1973, a milestone the Governor described as “Sports Coming Home,” highlighting Enugu’s historic contributions to the development of sports in Nigeria.

For Olopade, Enugu State emerged as the host through a competitive bidding process, but the State’s evident preparedness and commitment made the decision to award the hosting rights much easier.
