The United States is committing 250 million dollars to assist Nigeria transit faster from fossil fuel to clean energy economy.
U.S Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, John Kerry who made the commitment in Abuja at a meeting with the minister of Environment, Abdullahi Mohammed said this is an initial fund for the startup of Nigeria’s “clean energy demand initiative” that began at Cop 26 in Glasgow, a program which seeks to build healthier and safer environment for millions of the population while also creating jobs for the people.
Minister of Environment Abdullahi Mohammed signed a letter of intent for the commencement of the programme.

The initiative is geared towards making clean energy more accessible to Nigerians.
Transition to cleaner energy is expected to bring about economic growth while also combating climate crisis in line with Nigeria’s nationally determined contribution (NDC).
