Envoys Speak On Israel- Hamas War

The conflict in the Middle East continued on Tuesday with Israel making good its threats to deal ruthlessly with the Hamas group, which attacked Isreal, leaving over 1000 civilians dead.

At a news briefing in Abuja, Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Freeman echoed a similar sentiment saying Hamas will pay dearly for their Action. While the Palestinian Ambassador to Nigeria, Abdullah Shaweesh, says Hamas has done nothing wrong.

On October 7, 2023, Palestinian militant groups led by Hamas launched a large-scale invasion and offensive against Israel from the Gaza Strip. The militants broke through the Gaza–Israel barrier and forced their way through Gaza border crossings, entering nearby Israeli settlements and military installations, killing hundreds of people.

The conflict has continued, but on Tuesday, israel was able to seal the border on with Gaza, which Hamas militants broke through on Saturday to launch their waves of deadly attacks

Speaking to journalists israeli Ambassador to Nigeria Michael Freeman says israel is at War with Hamas and not all Palestinians

He said more than 900 people have been confirmed killed, and the figures may still increase. describing it as the highest number of killings in Israel since the holocoast

In a separate press briefing, Palestinian Ambassador to Nigeria, Abdullah Shaweesh said Hamas is fighting a just cause, adding that it is not a terrorist group

He raised concerns of favouritism, saying israel has consistently ignored international laws and called on the international community to ensure peace is restored

He said over 3000 Palestinians have been killed and over 4000 injured and fears the situation will get worse.
