The Niger State House of Assembly has summoned the Regional Manager of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, to appear at the plenary of the House, next Tuesday.
This is sequel to a motion sponsored by the Member Representing Bida 2 Constituency, Mohammed Haruna, at the House’s plenary.
Presenting the motion, Haruna informed his colleagues that the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company is the sole distributor of electricity in most parts of Niger State.
He explained that the power supply in recent times has been very poor and erratic.
He further alleged that many areas hardly get power supply, adding that areas enjoying electricity are the ones on 33 KVA lines.
The member maintained that this has affected a lot of business activities, as most of them rely on electricity supply to operate, lack of which has caused many to fold up because they cannot afford to fuel their generators.
The legislator said that without adequate power supply, the state’s water works cannot also supply water.
At the end of the presentations and deliberations, the House unanimously adopted the prayers of the motion by inviting the regional manager of AEDC to appear at the plenary of the House next Tuesday.
Although the Transmission Company of Nigeria, (TCN), had earlier said that one of its critical infrastructures, the Shiroro-Katampe 330 KVA transmission line has been vandalized in Abuja.
