Ethiopian airlines have stopped issuing visa-on-arrival for Nigerian citizens.
In a circular by the airline to passengers on Tuesday, it stated that effective immediately, there would be no more visa-on-arrival and that passengers are to obtain their visa at the Ethiopian embassy in Abuja, before travelling.
“Passengers transiting overnight in Addis Ababa are not affected by the ban. Passengers having a layover in Addis to travel the next morning to Zanzibar, Seychelles, Lusaka, Lilongwe, Harare, and Cape Town are not affected by the ban, and do not need transit visas for their trips,” the airline said.
The East African nation did not explain what prompted the decision.

This comes barely two months after the United Arab Emirates, (UAE), changed its visa policy for certain categories of Nigerian travellers to the Emirates.
Ethiopia has also made it compulsory for Nigerians going into its country, to produce their Yellow Fever Vaccination Cards, at any of its borders.
