A coalition of youths groups in Plateau state, North-Central Nigeria consisting of the National Youth Council, Indigenous Youths, and the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN have claimed that evidence available to them suggest that armed ethnic militia are responsible for the renewed attacks and killings in the State from April 15 till date.
Addressing the media in Jos, the youth leaders described the situation in Plateau State as similar to what has been happening in part of Southern Kaduna and Benue State.

The resurgence of attacks and killings in the aftermath of the 2023 general election which have so far claimed over 30 lives in Mangu, Bokkos, Barkin Ladi, Riyom, Jos South, and Bassa Local Government Areas of Plateau State have assumed a worrying dimension.
According to the coalition, they can no longer subscribe to the misleading charade of unknown gunmen as they now have evidence of who the attackers are.
The coalition also raised an alarm over the influx of armed herdsmen into the state while demanding the immediate re-opening of the Plateau State House of Assembly complex presently under lock and key by the police. They said it was time for the lawmakers who represent the people of the State to address the insecurity challenges on the ground. They also called on the government to inaugurate the Taskforce on Anti-land Grabbing to enforce the law.
