The Member representing Eket/ONNA/Esit-Eket/Ibeno Federal Constituency, Hon. Okpolupm Etteh, has joined well-meaning Nigerians in mourning the passing of Madam Lydia Yilwatda, mother of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, who died at the age of 83.

In a statement on Monday, Rep. Etteh described the late Yilwatda matriarch as a “revered community leader and devoted mother who gave her love, time, and energy to the service of God and humanity.”

He further noted that as a committed member of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), Madam Yilwatda lived a life of faith, discipline, and purpose that impacted many around her.

According to Etteh, the late Madam Lydia embodied the virtues of grace, resilience, and service, devoting herself to nurturing her children and uplifting her community, adding that “She was certainly committed to her endeavours and lived a spirited, graceful, and impactful life.”

Rep. Etteh urged Prof. Yilwatda and the bereaved family to draw strength from the cherished memories and legacies their mother left behind, stressing that her departure should not only be a moment of grief but also of thanksgiving for a life well-lived.

“As you mourn, I pray that the Almighty God grants you the fortitude and courage to bear this irreplaceable loss. May you find comfort in the indelible memories and enduring legacies she left behind,” Etteh stated.
The lawmaker reminded the family and associates of the APC Chairman that while Madam Lydia’s transition is a painful void, her name and works will remain etched in the hearts of all who were touched by her exemplary life.
