The European Union-funded Search for Common Ground Project in Taraba and Adamawa States in the Northeast Nigeria has rolled out peace sustainability plans to curb conflict, over natural resources, at the grassroots.

Locals and Media personalities from 52 communities in both States have been empowered on radio listenership of conflict transformation programs.

Taraba State has recorded fewer violent conflicts between farmers and herders in the last two years, which was a common occurrence in the past, especially during the farming seasons.

The European Union Search for Common Ground project, is among the interventions supported by the State government to promote dialogue, towards the peaceful resolution of such conflicts by both groups.

As the project wraps up in Taraba and neighbouring Adamawa State, it has set out to strengthen its sustainability plans, which target ownership by grassroots dwellers.

To this end, a workshop was organised for radio listenership clubs across 52 communities in Taraba and Adamawa States, to expand the audience for conflict transformation radio programmes at the grassroots.

The workshop was held in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.

Other sustainability plans for the conflict transformation project include, the setup of the Community Response Network, Peace Architecture Dialogue, Community Security Architecture Dialogue, and the Forum for Farmer/Herder Relations.
