The European Union and the German Government are set to train 1,000 Nigerians including 500 farmers in Cashew production for their economic sustenance.
The training will also include factory workers as as well as 500 dispatch riders, with 35% of the beneficiaries set to be women.
This was announced by the Head cooperation, European Union, Cecile Tassin-Pelzer in Abuja this Wednesday while briefing Journalists.
The Agricultural sector remains the largest employer of labour with about 48% in Nigeria and on an average contributes 25% to the country’s GDP.
The Cashew sub-sector offers enormous potential for employment creation and income generation, as Cashew is the largest export commodity from Nigeria.

In realisation of the SDG 4and 8, the European Union and the German Government accelerated the target to build the capacity of Low income earners to see the new vista of economic value inherent in cashew Production
On the side of closing the gap in the transportation sector, the VET-Tool box will be working with Glovo to pilot blended learning programmes to address needs in Road safety, service provision, Digital and financial literacy.
At the end of the training, the initiative is expected to create employment and reduce provery as well as create highly skilled Cashew farmers and processing staff that will improve the competitiveness of Nigeria in the regional and global Cashew Business
