The European Union, EU has expressed support for Nigeria’s implementation of zero waste initiatives, especially in rural communities.
The commitment came during a forum to mark the end of the second international zero waste day in Abuja.
With a special focus on fashion and textile waste, the forum brought together players at different layers of waste recycling across Nigeria.
It was to draw attention to the impact of waste from the sector, which reached 92 million tonnes globally in 2024.

The EU, along with partners such as NESREA and NGOs, is also encouraging young people to play their part and key into the enomours opportunities available in the waste to wealth initiative.
There was an exhibition to showcase works in the sector by participating groups and organizations while a popular music artist, 9nice, spiced the event to the delight of young people present.
