Enugu State’s plan to achieve 24-hour power supply by 2026 has received a boost, as the European Union (EU) expressed its willingness to partner the State government to make its vision a reality.

During a visit to Governor Peter Mbah, the Head of Cooperation, EU Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Massimo De Luca, confirmed the EU’s commitment to supporting Enugu State.

As part of efforts to enhance infrastructural development across Africa, the European Union (EU) has pledged to invest €150 billion over the next four years through its Global Gateway Initiative — a strategic investment framework designed to support sustainable development.

With Nigeria set to feature prominently in this initiative, Enugu State has emerged as one of the key partners for collaboration across multiple sectors.

Acknowledging the EU’s role as a global force for development, Governor Mbah said the State’s vision aligns with the EU’s objectives.

Beyond power infrastructure, Governor Mbah stressed the importance of grassroots development, noting that sustainable growth must begin at the community level.
