Over six thousand ex-Niger Delta militants have taken to the streets of Abuja to demand payment of their seven months’ salary arrears by the presidential Amnesty programme.
The group led by its national leader, Asuo Tambo said that the non-payment of their salary has made life so difficult for them and their dependents.

The ex-agitators from the Niger Delta areas of Nigeria carried placards with different inscriptions such as “President Muhammadu Buhari must help the agitators,” the federal government must mandate the most senior civil servants in the programme’s office to pay us our outstanding monies.”
They however appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene for them before handing over to the incoming administration.
The Amnesty programme was introduced by then president Shehu Yaradua to ensure peace and redirect the youthful energy of the Niger Delta youths towards positive ventures.
