Former chairman of the House of Representatives ad hoc committee probing the multi-billion naira fuel subsidy fraud in 2012, Faruk Lawan has been sentenced to 7 years imprisonment for asking for 3 million dollar bribe and receiving 500 thousand dollars from owner Zenon Petroleum and Gas Limited, Femi Otedola.

He was also asked to return the sum of $500 thousand dollars received from Otedola to the federal government.
