Nigeria’s former military Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon has said the country’s leadership challenge was a result of deviation from the principles of patriotism and selfless service to the fatherland.
General Gowon said this in a message to the Leadership and Mentoring Forum in Abuja on Thursday.
Nigeria’s socio-economic and political challenges have got most citizens calling for the election of leaders with the required capacity and patriotic zeal to lay a solid foundation upon which to build a new nation in 2023.

Nigeria’s former Head of state, General Yakubu Gowon told the gathering that citizens will need to embrace patriotism and selfless service to the nation if they truly desire to grow the country.
Keynote Speaker, Sam Amadi said there must be genuine commitment and adherence to the rule of law for Nigeria to get her political leadership right.
Other speakers advised Nigerians to vote wisely in the coming general elections to enthrone a regime of credible leaders.
