Nigeria’s former President, Olusegun Obasanjo has commended Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki for his commitment to human welfare, wellbeing and development in the course of his 8-year administration.
The ex Nigerian leader spoke in Benin city when he formally launched the rebuilt and expanded 250-bed hospital named after his late wife, Stella Obasanjo.
The hospital which was originally built by former Governor Lucky Igbinedion in 2007, was rebuilt and expanded by Governor Godwin Obaseki to provide specialised healthcare services through referrals from the various primary healthcare centres and other medical institutions within and outside Edo State, particularly on women and children related health cases.
Governor Obaseki noted that the world class facility forms a part of the State’s medical hub which seeks to make Edo a reference point for excellence in healthcare service delivery.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo appreciated the Governor for his commitment to human welfare and wellbeing even till the last moments of bowing out of office.
The next was the inauguration of the ultramodern Crèche and Food court built as components of the State Civil Service secretariat, a facility meant to make life easy for the working class people and parents in the capital city.
The two projects were commissioned by the wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Dame Patience Jonathan.
Governor Obaseki emphasises the need to create a conducive atmosphere for workers.
