Kano State Ministry of health has confirmed the death of three persons linked to contaminated drinks or food poisoning.
State Health Commissioner, Dr. Aminu Tsanyawa confirmed the deaths while briefing newsmen on the incident.
Many Kano residents rushed to hospital on noticing blood in their urine.
The illness has been linked to the consumption of expired drinks openly sold in the markets while the state health ministry of has directed an investigation to get to the root of the matter leading to the seizure of expired food items and the drinks worth over sixty million naira from markets.

284 persons were reported affected by the illness out of which 101 have been discharged from hospitals.
183 others are receiving varying degrees of treatment in private and public health facilities in the state.
