The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the explosion of an Improved Explosive Device that ripped through some sections of the residence of a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state, Francis Inegbeneki.
Confirming the incident which occurred in the early hours of Saturday to AIT, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Chidi Nwabuzor, said that investigation is currently ongoing to unravel and bring the perpetrators to book.
The residence of the APC Chieftain is located off boundary road in the GRA of Benin City. The explosion destroyed parts of the buildings; windows, doors, and a Camry car parked near the area.

The victim, Inegbeneki, who expressed shock at the attack, described the act as politically motivated.
