Normalcy has been restored to Ngomari Airport and the One Thousand Housing Estate area in the Maiduguri metropolis after early morning explosions that rocked the areas.
The explosions were said to have occurred around six in the morning, when the residents were still indoors, preparing for the monthly sanitation exercise.
Ngomari is close to the Nigeria Air Force Base and the airport, while the One Thousand Housing Estate is near the Hajj Transit Camp, where repentant Boko Haram insurgents are being kept in Maiduguri.
According to one of the sources, the explosion destroyed a house in the 1000 Housing Estate but didn’t kill anyone.

It was, however, said to have injured a 9-year-old boy.
The sources said they suspect that the attacks were launched by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists, targeted at the Hajj Transit Camp, where their surrendered colleagues are being kept.
Some security sources who would not want to be identified said that the insurgents have been attempting to infiltrate Maiduguri since Friday, but could not have access, due to the tight security within, and resorted to launching rocket explosives, targeting the pilgrims camp.
