Corporate organisations and individuals have been called upon to partner the Nigerian government to ensure availability, accessibility and affordability of eye care treatments and facilities across the country.
Eye specialists made the call at an event to mark the world sight day Thursday in Abuja.

Available statistics by the Optometrics Association of Nigeria show that over one point two million people from forty years are blind, while about two million adults from forty years live with visual impairment.
The Abuja chapter of the association advised Nigerians to partner with government to promote universal access to eye care.
Other speakers highlighted the challenges encountered by optometrics.
Some of the over one hundred persons who gathered for a free eye check and medications speak on their impressions.
World Sight Day is an international day of awareness held every second Thursday of October with focus on global issues of eye health.
