The family of Late Iniobong Umoren have debunked fresh social media claims linking her 2021 murder to organ harvesting.

The family described the allegations as false, baseless and unnecessary traumatizing, calling on those behind the claims to produce verifiable evidence.

At a press briefing in Uyo, Ifiok Umoren, sister to the late Iniobong, refuted the allegations, stating that a full autopsy was conducted in her presence, and no body part was missing.

She described the trending claims as not only false but deeply traumatic for the family.

A recent audio circulating on social media, alleging a conversation between Sandra Duru, also known as Professor Mbeke, and suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti, suggests that Iniobong Umoren’s murder was connected to organ harvesting. But the family of the deceased has firmly denied the claim.

The Lead prosecutor in the case, Barrister Friday Itim, emphasized that the matter was thoroughly investigated and concluded with the sentencing of the convict, Uduak Akpan to death in 2022.

He warned that the spread of unverified and sensational claims only served to mislead the public and worsen the family’s pain.

Similarly, the defense counsel, Barrister Samson Adula, noted that the court proceedings were open and accessible to the public.

He confirmed that an autopsy was carried out.

Late Miss Iniobong Umoren was raped and murdered in 2021 after falling victim to a fake job interview set up by the convict, Uduak Akpan.
The case sparked national outrage, and the convict was sentenced to death.
