Farmers Herders Clash: Police Confirm Three Dead in Nasarawa

The Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed that three persons lost their lives in a clash between farmers and herders in the state.

Umar Nadada, The state’s Commissioner of Police in a statement made this known to journalists in Lafia.

He noted that the incident happened in Dogon Duste community which is located between Nasarawa and Toto Local Government Areas of the state.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in the area who was informed in a report that there was a clash between farmers and herders on Monday, at about 4:30 pm discovered that two people were killed in the farm while four other injured persons were rushed to a Primary Healthcare center for treatment.

The Police noted that it later found one additional corps in the bush during a search operation, bringing the number of deaths to three.

The commissioner stated that normalcy has returned to the area, adding that the police would work with the community and get to the root of the matter and apprehend those involved

The police boss urged residents to continue to strengthen collaboration with security agencies to sustain and enhance security in the state.

The commissioner said the command had made significant progress in the fight against insecurity in the state and will continue to access and strategize to make the state safer.
