The chairman of the technical committee, Lawrence Ngabale, said disputes, trespass on farms, or misunderstandings between farmers and herders were amicably resolved through the traditional system of arbitration and conflict resolution in the past and expressed regret that this had been abandoned with both sides resorting to violence.

This state government waded into the crisis by creating a peace arbitration committee with Fulani and Bwatiye people as members and saddled with the responsibility of ensuring that all sides to every dispute get justice.
