The FCT Emergency Management Agency, FEMA, has flagged off the 2024 dry season sensitization campaign to help residents guard against frequent incidences of fire outbreaks in the territory.
The agency’s Director, Forecasting Response Mitigation, Florence Wenegieme, while inaugurating the campaign on Thursday in Abuja, appealed to all relevant bodies to channel efforts towards prevention and mitigation of disasters in the nation’s capital territory.
Wenegieme said there was the need for residents to take caution in the handling of inflammable items during the dry season to prevent and mitigate fire outbreaks.
Authorities of the Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the efforts of the FCT Emergency Management Agency, FEMA, to create awareness in the territory, especially people at the grassroots level.
The FCT Emergency Management Agency, advised residents of the six Area Councils to always switch off all electrical appliances after use and keep fire extinguishers at homes and shopping malls.
