FCT Polls: INEC to conduct Mock Election Saturday, February 7, 2026

Towards ensuring a hitch-free February 21st 2026 Federal Capital Territory Area Council Polls, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has announced that it will conduct a Mock Election in 289 Polling Units Across the FCT on Saturday, February 7th, 2026 from 8.30am to 2.30pm.

The information seen in a notice signed by the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Aminu Idris says Voters in the affected Polling Units are all encouraged to turnout with their Permanent Voter Card, PVC and take part in the mock election to help INEC fine-tune the process for the election.

For the list of the selected Polling Units, the Electoral Umpire urges Voters to check its website at https://inecnigeria.org/fct-area-council-2026-designated-polling-units-for-mock/.

INEC assures FCT residents of its readiness to conduct a successful Area Council Election.

The Federal Capital Territory Area Council Elections will be held on Saturday, 21st February 2026. The exercise will see 1,680,315 registered voters casting their votes across 2,822 polling units in the six Area Councils, which are Abaji, Abuja Municipal Area Council, Bwari, Gwagwalada, Kuje and Kwali. It will be contested by 570 candidates in 68 constituencies for the positions of Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen and sixty-two Councillors made up of ten wards each for five Area Councils and twelve wards for the Abuja Municipal Area Council.
